SPS Spindle offers their customers an onsite taper grinding service that minimizes downtime and extends the life of their spindles. Instead of sending a spindle or cartridge out for an overhaul, this service is done at the customer’s location, without requiring the spindle to be removed from the machine tool. With more than 10 years of experience, SPS has become an authority on taper grinding and can handle a variety of spindle taper systems. In fact, we are one of the only companies in the United States that is certified to handle the grinding of Big Plus systems. Plus, we have the gauging systems to qualify all the tapers we service after the grind is complete.
Our onsite taper grinding service covers the V-Flange style taper, including the 30, 40, 50 and 60; the Big Plus® system with dual contact taper and face mount, and we also do the HSK system. The gauging we provide is absolutely critical for this type of grinding. With both Big Plus and HSK, the relationship between the face and taper need to be precise in order to ensure performance and meet OEM specifications. We’ve taken spindles that you would think were beyond repair and brought them back to life.
